A Jealous God...

http://bible.org/seriespage/jealous-god

That just doesn't make sense to me.

"One thing He views as especially important to Him in the Old Testament is the nation Israel. She belongs to Him as His special possession, His unique treasure."
Right. Everyone else can go f... themselves? Funny that God's favorite country is one of the most violent and sadistic nations in the world.

The way that jealousy thing has been explained I can't help but understand that according to the Bible God has the very same weaknesses as any 2 cents worth human schmuck on Earth. Only diff is He has some extra powers. It just doesn't make any sense. That is not or shouldn't be the description of a supreme being. It definitely sounds like a man made fantasy creature in a fairy tale book.

"In our pagan society, Satan holds the adoration of some and superstition grips the hearts of others, alternative brands of idolatry which suggest that supernatural forces other than God have ultimate control of our lives." - Pagans do not recognize the existence of Satan. Only Christians do. And of course Satanists but none of the pagan communities affiliate with Satanism at all.

I think when a whole belief system is put into and based on a single book written by primitive people, it can be explained and understood in many different ways, just like they were teaching the Bible with a much more violent result for hundreds of years.

Is it so impossible that God is not a person-like deity but the ultimate existence of the Universe, God being everything, in everything, of everything, a divine reality without a face, human-like attitude, emotion and judgments? Is it impossible that God is being just 'It' as in everything, instead of 'Him' as a personalized image?

Is it impossible that fully comprehending and understanding God is beyond any one humans' mind, logic, imagination so people did create something they can accept, they can wrap their mind around?

Because honestly that is the only acceptable explanation I can let my mind find peace with and as I understand it many others too.
